KitaroDB Update Supports Windows 8.1

KitaroDB Update Supports Windows 8.1

Today, we released an update to KitaroDB (v2.0.0.2) that now supports Windows 8.1 in addition to Windows Phone 8 and “traditional” Win32 and .NET developments. With Microsoft’s official release of Windows 8.1, we’re happy to report that the past few months of internal development and outside beta testing has paid off, and we appear to be running error free and with full capabilities.

Note that due to the architecture of releasing tools on the Visual Studio Gallery, there are actually two separate downloads for the WinRT / Windows Store Applications. You’ll need to choose the correct vsix download for the platform you’re targeting (either 8.1 or 8), but we recommend simply downloading both if you’re supporting/and or building for “older” (read: Windows 8) application installs.

Special thanks to our beta testers, who helped prove the product was good to go with Windows 8.1 – even though the target was always moving – and kudos to those that helped make the product even stronger by helping us identify a rarely-encountered issue with the TLS shutdown mechanism on the WinPhone platform!
